Bishop Darlingston G. Johnson, D.Min., is senior pastor of Bethel World Outreach Church in Silver Spring, Maryland—a rapidly growing, multicultural congregation of more than 3,000 members from more than 45 nations. He is also the Presiding Prelate of Bethel World Outreach Ministries International—a global organization of more than 30,000 members in 22 nations, and a network of nearly 200 churches, three Bible Colleges, and 5 Christian Schools. Bishop Johnson is the First Assistant Bishop to the Presiding Prelate of the Kingdom Council of Interdependent Christian Churches and Ministries and is chairman of the Board of International Gospel Outreach Ministries.
A scholar, Bishop Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science and master of divinity degrees summa cum laude from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1981 and 1984, respectively. He earned his doctor of ministry degree from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma, in 1986.
A diligent servant, Bishop Johnson is committed to winning the lost, making disciples, planting churches, and developing Christian leaders. He has preached God’s Word to large and small crowds in many nations, including the British Virgin Islands, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, England, France, Germany, Ghana, Guinea, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Philippines, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, The Gambia, Togo, Trinidad, and the United States of America.
He is the author of ABC Back to Basics: Essential Building Blocks for a Successful Christian Life, Good-bye Worry, How to Have Financial Success Without Losing Your Soul, Sexual Purity, and This One Thing I Do. His cable program—Rivers of Life—is broadcast on the Trinity Broadcast Network (Channel 98 on Thursdays at 6:30 a.m.), and on public access television in Montgomery County, Maryland, and in Washington, DC.
Bishop Johnson is married to Pastor Chrys Johnson. They have one daughter, Isabel.
